A few days ago I wrote a rather grouchy entry about 'pinging' and wondered whether or not the majority of my blogs were actually being pinged by Technorati. I then pinged that particular entry and, surprise surprise, it remained showing as not updated for a couple of days, but at least the new entry eventually showed up, which is more than I can say for most of my blogs listed with Technorati.
Fair enough. I'll continue sticking the ping html in my blogs (just in case... you never know!) but Technorati will not be very high on my agenda from now on (which is a shame as one of my hand posted blogs actually is a favourite of someone now - a brave soul indeed!).
But something else did happen regarding that blog entry. The poacher has been at it again!
During my usual, and hopefully quick, adult webmaster forum browsing, I discovered that the guy who had stolen a couple of my earlier entries and published them as his own has now used my 'Am I Being Pinged?' entry as the basis of his latest 'authoratative article'. This time he hasn't taken my words and simply altered the paragraph position as he did before; this time he has taken my ideas and used these as the basis of his article. It wouldn't surprise me if he has taken other writers words to use as his own. Once he had stolen the idea it wouldn't take much to browse the net to find his content. But I'm too busy to waste my time searching to see if this is what he has done, especially as this time there is very little I could do about it, even if I wanted to.
I mean, realistically, it is only my ideas they guy has taken. This time he hasn't plagiarised one of my articles. And as Audre Lourde said, "There are no new ideas. There are only new ways of making them felt." But I still feel hacked off.
This guy is definitely shoadowing me and, I should think, others too.
Hasn't he got a new thought in his head? I know we are all porn writers (those of us who bother to write...), but we all work hard trying to come up with something a little novel. These are our thoughts; our writings. Go and get your own, you parasite! Or else, don't try to pretend these are yours and it is you who is 'the expert'. The only thing you are expert in is stalking!
As an afterthought, I received a comment on my 'Alls Fair in Porn Publishing...Or Not?' entry from a guy who runs a website called Plagiarism Today. He is determined to do his utmost to fight plagiarism. I didn't use his advice on how I could take action against my 'stalker' (as I said at the time and still say, in this field of business it is I who would come off worse). Nevertheless, Plagiarism Today is an interesting and very useful website for others who do want to take matters further.
Me? I'll just copyright my articles from now on (such as they are...) and see whether my 'stalker' goes elsewhere. If he doesn't, he must me extremely thick skinned (or just plain thick....).
